On September 9, 10 and 11, the largest open-air agricultural festival in Europe took place in Outarville, in Loiret. For the occasion, the Ovalies UniLaSalle were present with no less than forty student volunteers.
What’s the “Terres de Jim” ?
More than 600 volunteers gathered for the event, young farmers from Loiret and Eure-et-Loir, united for more than a year and a half whith the aim of raising awarness among young people about agricultural issues and jobs. This year in Beauce, many events took place, motor sports competitions, equipement exhibitions, plant and animal demonstrations as well as the National Final of the plowing competition
The event opened on Friday with the organization of activities on the rugby field by the Ovalies. On the program: speed course, games of skill, drop contest, giant noughts and crosses, quiz around the 2023 Rugby World Cup,… so many activities for young and old in the company of Houpa, our faithful mascot.
At the same time, throughout the weekend, our volunteers were able to introduce Wheelchair Rugby to visitors to Terre de Jim. Children and adults paraded on the floor with a furious desire to share the discovery of this sport.
To be differentiated from Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Rugby 7s is played with the same rules as Sevens Rugby, suitable for people with reduced mobility. It is exercised with a rugby ball, the passes are only backwards and you only have to defend the ball carrier. There are several ways to score: 5pts if the ball is flattened in the opponent’s goal, 3pts for drops and penalties and 2pts for converts. Similarly, for scrums, it is a question of pushing 3 against 3 as in rugby sevens.
We would like to thank Terres de Jim and the entire organization for their welcome and this superb event. Can’t wait for the next edition!
