This Thursday, March 28, the Ovalies had the honor of receiving the former star of the French rugby team, Philippe Sella, accompanied by representatives of the associations supported by the 25th Ovalies: on TED otherwise, Dessine moi une maison, un Maillot pour la Vie et Les Enfants de l’Ovale.
The students of the Unilasalle Institute and the partners were able to learn personal anecdotes from the rich career of Philippe Sella. Whether on the field or off, solidarity and self-sacrifice have allowed this former rugby player to build himself in order to give to others. He first created his company and then his association: Les enfants de L’Ovale, which aims to help disadvantaged children to develop and build themselves through the values of rugby.
For Philippe Sella, being able to share and help others is natural. During his rugby career, the latter was always supported by those close to him, “they were even coaches” he confided. Convinced that “you only receive what you give”, he has allowed some children to find hope through rugby through his actions with the Children of the Oval.
Christophe Bonnet, writer of a thesis on the evolution of French rugby and its impact on society, was able to tell the transition from amateur rugby to professional. Philippe Sella was able to bounce back from this intervention: “What will be the future of young rugby professionals following their career?”. A new world is beginning for rugby and echoes current societal challenges.
